Where this all began

When I first arrived in London, stepping off the aeroplane with a mixture of excitement and apprehension, I knew I was embarking on a new chapter of my life. Living on my own in a foreign country was both thrilling and daunting. One of the first things that struck me was how much I missed Japanese food – the familiar tastes and comforting flavours of home seemed a world away.

As I settled into my new routine and got used to the rhythm of life in a different culture, I realised how food could be a bridge to connection. Cooking Japanese dishes became a way for me to stay connected to my roots, and sharing these meals with new friends helped me feel at home in a foreign land.

Now that I’m back in Japan, I want to share my love for Japanese cuisine with those who are curious about it or who miss it, just like I did. Whether you’ve just moved to Japan, dream of calling this country home, or simply love Japanese food, join me as we explore Japanese recipes, food culture, and Japanese brands together. Along the way, I’ll also introduce you to some of my favourite cafes and restaurants in Japan – places that capture the essence of Japanese hospitality and flavour. Let’s explore Japan’s food scene together, from home-cooked meals to hidden gems in the city.
